Resident Evil 2 Remake

2019 PS4PS5Xbox OneXbox Series X|SPC

Leon Kennedy arrives in Raccoon City on his first day as an RPD officer just as the T-Virus outbreak transforms the city into a zombie wasteland. He meets Claire Redfield, searching for her brother Chris. Both are forced into the Raccoon City Police Department, where they face hordes of zombies, the terrifying stalker Mr. X, and the mutating G-monster William Birkin in Umbrella's underground laboratory beneath the city. The remake offers two interlocking campaigns — Leon A / Claire B and Claire A / Leon B — each with different item placements and story perspectives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Leon A and Claire B campaigns?

In Leon A / Claire B (the 'true' first playthrough order), Leon explores the RPD's east wing and sewer while Claire handles the orphanage and Umbrella lab. Leon A / Claire B is considered the canonical route. In Claire A / Leon B, item placements and some puzzle solutions change. The B campaigns are harder with different item positions and a more aggressive Mr. X.

How scary is RE2 Remake compared to other RE games?

RE2 Remake is the scariest of the modern RE remakes. Mr. X's constant pursuit creates sustained tension unlike boss encounters — he can interrupt any room at any time. The RPD atmosphere, narrow corridors, and Licker encounters make it consistently terrifying. It is less terrifying than RE7's claustrophobic first-person horror but more atmospheric than RE4 or Village.

How long is RE2 Remake?

A single Leon A or Claire A campaign takes 8–10 hours. Completing both A and B campaigns (recommended for the full story) takes 16–20 hours. S+ rank speedrun-style completions can clear a single campaign in under 2 hours.

What is the 4th Survivor mode?

4th Survivor is an unlockable bonus mode starring HUNK — an Umbrella operative who must escape the sewers with no saves, limited resources, and no room for error. It is one of the hardest challenges in the game and requires knowledge of enemy positions. Completing it unlocks the Tofu Survivor mode.
