RE9 Requiem — Speedrun Guide
Category breakdowns, current world records, key skips, and routing notes for Resident Evil Requiem speedrunning. All times use in-game timer (IGT). Records current as of March 2026.
Speedrun Categories
Any% (New Game)
Complete the game as fast as possible on a fresh save, no restrictions. Allows Bonus Content shop purchases if unlocked from a prior save.
Any% New Game+
New Game+ with all weapons and Infinite Ammo carried over. The fastest completable category due to weapon carry-over removing all resource constraints.
All Mr. Raccoon
Complete the game while destroying all 25 Mr. Raccoon statues. Must also achieve True Ending. The most routing-intensive category.
Glitchless
Complete the game without using any skips, glitches, or OoB exploits. All puzzles must be solved normally. All cutscenes must play.
General Speedrun Tips
Movement
Leon: always sprint (hold L3 while moving) — walking wastes significant time over a full run.
Grace: crouch-walking is required near The Girl — but sprint between The Girl zones. Know her patrol boundaries to time sprints safely.
Both: use diagonal strafe movement to open doors while pre-aiming at enemies through the door — saves the aim-raise time after entering a room.
Ladders: hold R2/RT immediately on ladder transitions to accelerate the climb animation.
Combat Skips
Most standard zombies can be avoided entirely — learn the patrol patterns for each area to route around them without combat.
Doors stagger standard zombies on the other side — open a door into a zombie, then sidestep past the door while it is stunned.
Boss stagger windows are fixed regardless of difficulty — hitting them immediately after the trigger saves 2–3 seconds per phase.
Hatchet parry-counter is the fastest kill method for standard zombies on NG runs (no Infinite Ammo) — parry grabs at low HP for instant kills.
Merchant Optimization
On NG runs: only stop at Merchant in Chapter 2 (buy MSBG 500 Power Lv.1), Chapter 4 (buy W870 Power Lv.2), and Chapter 6 (confirm RPG Round stock). Skip all other Merchant stops.
Sell all valuables immediately when selling is available — Credits carried forward have no value if not spent at that Merchant stop.
Blue Request #12 (Core Breach) in Chapter 6 gives an RPG Round — completing it costs ~90 seconds but saves having to save-farm for RPG ammo for Victor Phase 2.
Chapter-Specific Saves
Prologue: enter Hotel Manager's Office, collect Mr. Raccoon #3, open safe, immediately exit — no exploration. Time: ~25 seconds.
Chapter 3: The Bell Tower exterior drainpipe glitch (Any%): stand at the NW base of the Bell Tower exterior, sprint diagonally into the wall at the corner seam — clips through to the Bell Tower second floor, skipping the interior entirely.
Chapter 4: RPD East Hall routing — take the underground parking garage path to the Library instead of the main corridor (2 fewer zombie encounters).
Chapter 6: Collect Mr. Raccoon #24 (Server Room) and #25 (Director's Office) as a back-to-back loop: Server Room → Director's Office → Central Chamber. No backtracking.
