Alligator Snapper
The Alligator Snapper is Leon's default sidearm — the weapon he carries into the Wrenwood Hotel at the start of Resident Evil Requiem. It is a semi-automatic 9mm pistol modeled after a modern tactical handgun, with a slightly larger grip than standard for improved ergonomics. It has the most abundant ammo supply in the game because Handgun Ammo is found in virtually every environment. Its base damage is modest, but fully upgraded it becomes one of the most cost-efficient weapons in the game. The name is a callback to the colloquial nickname Leon gave his RE2 handgun. Its white dot precision system makes it ideal for the 'White Dot headshot' technique — waiting for the reticle to tighten before firing for guaranteed critical hit damage.

Expert Tips
The cheapest fully upgradeable weapon. The Stock accessory dramatically improves accuracy for mid-range combat. Prioritize Power upgrades first, then the Stock, then Capacity. The Lethal Headshot Exclusive is extremely strong for S+ Rank runs — one-shots standard zombies and conserves shotgun ammo significantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I upgrade the Alligator Snapper in RE9?
Yes — the Alligator Snapper is worth upgrading because Handgun Ammo is the most common resource in the game. Prioritize the High-Capacity Magazine upgrades first to reduce reload interruptions, then invest in the Compensator for power. On Standard difficulty, a fully upgraded Snapper handles most non-boss encounters with room to spare.
When does the white dot appear on the Alligator Snapper?
Stand still and aim — a small white dot appears in the center of the reticle after approximately 1–1.5 seconds. Firing during this window dramatically increases damage and guarantees a stagger. This mechanic applies to all of Leon's firearms but is most reliably exploited with the Alligator Snapper due to its fast ADS time.
