Knife Leon None (durability-based)

Hunting Knife

The Hunting Knife is the first proper blade Leon finds in Resident Evil Requiem, replacing the Makeshift Knife after the Wrenwood Hotel opening section. It has a fixed-blade design with a serrated spine and a rubberized grip — clearly built for field use rather than the improvised construction of the Makeshift Knife. Its durability is moderate: approximately 8–10 full stabbing uses before it breaks. It enables stealth kills — sneaking behind an unalerted enemy and pressing the melee button performs a silent backstab that kills standard zombies in two hits without alerting others. In areas where noise management is critical (the Shadow Ghost sections), using the knife for stealth kills rather than firearms is the optimal approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do stealth kills work in RE9 Requiem?

Crouch behind an unalerted enemy (enemy must not have a red exclamation mark above its head). When the stealth prompt appears, press the melee button to perform a backstab. Standard zombies require two backstabs to kill silently. This produces no sound and does not alert nearby enemies.

How many uses does the Hunting Knife have?

The Hunting Knife lasts approximately 8–10 full stab uses before breaking. Each stealth kill backstab counts as one use. Parry uses deplete it faster. The Kotetsu (Bonus Content) replaces it as an infinite-durability option for players who want to avoid managing knife supplies.
